Trinity Lutheran of Lake Johanna
King's Crew Youth Group King's Crew is the name of Trinity's youth group. It identifies them as belonging to their Lord Jesus Christ. Trinity offers a variety of activities for youth that focus on fun, fellowship, worship, Bible study, witness, and service. Summer 2008 activities includes going to a servant event in New York, traveling to Easterville, Manitoba to do a Vacation Bible School, working at the State Fair and other little activities. Fall activities include holding a vacation bible school at Trinity, volunteering to help with the State Fair Park and Ride that is held in the church's parking lot, the annual fall retreat, a servant event for Feed my Starving Children, and much more! We are constantly collecting pop cans in our church parking lot as a fundraiser.
Faith in Action This ministry is for post-confirmation youth who want to live out their Christian faith. They meet Wednesday evenings for prayer, fellowship, service projects, and study of God's word. In the past they've raised $500 for cancer research, made Valentine's Day care packages for a local Children's hospital, visited the Teen Crisis Center, wrapped gifts for residents of Crestview Lutheran Home, and attended Christmas concerts. This winter they will be adopting a refugee family and assisting the family with clothing.
Women of Trinity Women of Trinity is our chapter of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML), a service organization of the Missouri Synod. The group promotes mission work and service projects within Trinity and the surrounding community. The Guild sponsors the annual Trinity Christmas Crafts and Bake Sale, with proceeds supporting their mission efforts. Other projects include support for local food shelves and production of kits for Lutheran World Relief. Collecting coins for LWML mite boxes, the first Sunday of every month.
Men's Club The men of Trinity meet once a month for service and fellowship. They occasionally go on fishing trips and other "manly" gatherings ;).
Trinity Seniors Trinity has a very active seniors organization, promoting fellowship and service. The Seniors meet the fourth Thursday of each month. Typical meetings include a meal and a program of education and entertainment, such as music and discussion. The group enjoys a variety of trips, both local and outside the immediate area. The Seniors sponsor the 55 Alive driving program for seniors. Another important service is the "Share the Worship" program, in which the group records audio tapes of portions of each Sunday's worship service and takes them to shut-in members of the congregation. A highlight of the church year is the annual Seniors prime rib dinner, held each December. |
